June 16 Big Horn Mountains

parked outside our hotel in Cooke City

there is a bull elk in this photo, if you blow it up large, you can see his horns

we have seen snow just about everywhere we have gone on this trip

We left Cooke City Montana this morning and came across Chief Joseph Scenic Byway to Cody Wyoming across the Big Horn Mountains to Sheridan Wyoming, which is where we are spending the night. It was a beautiful day today and we are both ready to be home, but at the same time it is bitter sweet leaving the mountains. The Big Horns are among our favorite of the whole trip, although, it is hard to choose a favorite!

Last night we stayed in Cooke City Montana and they didn't even have phone service so I couldn't post. Yesterday we left Jackson, Wyoming and went through the Tetons and Yellowstone. It was very cold and of course we got rained on in Yellowstone too. Not for long, but we were wet and cold for a while!! It turned out to be a great day anyway...

June 12 & 13 Idaho, Jackson Wyoming

Even the hills in the background are black...

Our room at the Wyoming Inn

We left The Dalles Oregon on Tuesday morning and rode about 450 miles to make it to Boise Idaho, so there weren't any pictures taken. On Wednesday, we left Boise and made it to Jackson Hole Wyoming. On the way, we drove through the Craters of the Moon park. This is a lava field...it is amazing that all of a sudden, all the earth looks like it is turned inside out. We tried to get pictures, but they don't really show  what we saw. Tonight we are staying at the Wyoming Inn, in fact we are staying 2 nights here because we didn't get in town until later in the day. The weather has been great!!

Mt Hood

just on the side of the rode in Central Oregon
You know it is a good vacation when you don't know what day it is, so I hope I have this right... We left Bend Oregon & spent the night in The Dalles Oregon, which is the town right on the Columbia River Gorge. We crossed the bridge to Washington and rode 50 miles or so west and then crossed back into Oregon so we could see both sides of the Gorge. I have a few pictures uploaded. This town is also pretty close to Mt Hood. Of course you don't have to be real close because it is a BIG mountain...haha.
