We only rode about 100 miles today and all of it in heavy cold rain...sounds like fun doesn't it? Well it wasn't so we got a room in Mackinaw City. We can see the bridge from our room. I think this looks like it could be a neat town and we would go check it out if the sun was shining! Bob is napping...exactly what we should be doing on vacation! Hope the sun is shining tomorrow...

We had a very weak signal yesterday, so I couldn't upload. We went through Sleeping Bear dunes. It was amazing! I hope the photos do just a little justice to what we saw. We had some really heavy rain in the morning & the rest of the day was nice. We stayed in Traverse City Michigan in a tiny cabin that I can only say was cute on the outside & way too expensive!

Vacation Aug 2011 Upper Peninsula

What a great day! We left the house this morning at 6:15 & made it to Grand Rapids by 4:30 CST...at least Bob did! Now the fun begins. I made it by taking the scenic route around 5:30...yes it was pretty exciting there for a few minutes! Lets just say traffic was pretty heavy, rush hour Friday afternoon & I am following so I dont know where I am or where I am going....nuff said! No pictures today & all is well that ends well! :o)

they said this is the tallest lighthouse in North America...I know my legs were weak by the time I got to the top...LOL!

Tuesday we started across Maine back roads, coming through New Hamshire. We went to Mt. Washington. Bob, Johnny & Linda made it to the top. I turned around when the blacktop ended. Steep grade and gravel on a mountain didn't mix in my mind...LOL...anyway they said it was beautiful! Weather was great and we ended up staying in White River Junction, NH. Johnny and Linda left early this morning for Buffalo, to visit with a cousin and go to Niagra Falls. Bob and I went through some back roads in Vermont, saw Quechee Gorge, covered bridges, rode the Ferry across Lake Champlain, and tonight we are in Lake Placid, NY. It has been a great day, but we miss our friends...

Hartland Bridge

We are finally back in the USA!! I am very glad...the weather today was cool and cloudy until we crossed the border. (go figure) This morning we stopped by Hartland, New Brunswick. They have the worlds longest covered bridge. I am uploading a couple of photos. We rolled over 3000 miles today. I am not sure where we are heading tomorrow, but the sun should be shining!

Prince Edward Island

Today is cool and cloudy, highs in the 60's. It was around noon before the roads dried off, so we drove over to PEI. The bridge onto the island is 9 miles/14km long. It was 100 miles each way to get there. Went to the Harley dealer and caught up with some friends we met on the Cabot Trail a couple of days ago. That was really cool. I hope we make it back to the US tomorrow night. It is beautiful here and we are having a great time, but I miss home...Not many pics today, too nasty out. We were in a hurry to get back to our nice cozy room!! Yall have a great Monday!!

Today we rode around 250 miles, (the last 125 in the rain) so we got a room in Moncton, New Brunswick. We are waiting for Danny to get past us, should be past by noon tomorrow. In the meantime, we have a great hotel, are catching up on laundry & the Blog (LOL) There is a great restaurant down stairs and movies in our room. What a great Sat afternoon... I am uploading more photos from yesterday. It was an awesome day!!

The weather was cool and windy, but no rain. It was around 50 degrees when we left the hotel at 7, but warmed up to around 65. It was good to have warm clothes!

Tonight we are in Truro, NS. We saw the low tide in the Minos Basin this morning. That was amazing!! We rode across the Province to Halifax to go to the Harley dealer...big let down...but the weather is still beautiful! We understand there is another "storm" on its way. Figures, but so far, so good... I will try to write and send photos tomorrow. The Internet is not as easy to get to as I had hoped.

We got here yesterday, but the office closed before I could post. Bar Harbor and Acadia National Park are beautiful. The weather has been perfect!! We have eaten Lobstah twice already. Now we are going to look at the Light House and find some dinner. Then we have to pack for an early morning on the CAT. I will post photos when I can.

Not much to talk about. Another long day, another 500 miles. We are staying at Sturbridge, Mass. Great weather, great company, beautiful scenery, alot more traffic today. It should be an easy day tomorrow to make it all the way to Bar Harbor, unless we have crappy weather or traffic conditions. It don't really matter, we are on vacation!!!

Saturday we made it a few miles past Cumberland, MD. There were not many places to stay, so this is what we ended up with. We also didn't have Internet access...but we had everything else you could think of.

We did have great weather, and beautiful scenery! 550 miles total
